Imagine the cab is 10 feet away from you. On a Vox, the high frequencies dissipate faster than the mids. Put a Low Pass Filter on your room channel at 6kHz. Let the close mic handle the top-end fizz; let the room mic handle the "woof" and "thump."

When you blend a close mic (SM57) with a room mic (R-121 far), they often go out of phase. If your low end disappears when you engage the room sound, flip the polarity on the room mic. Imagine the cab is 10 feet away from you
Most presets sound dead because the "Room" slider is at 0. Turn it up to 30% immediately. If you can't hear the air, it's wrong. Let the close mic handle the top-end fizz;
