A: BIN files contain only the OS. PAC files contain bootloaders, drivers, and even Wi-Fi calibration tables. PAC is more comprehensive but riskier.

If you encounter a “signature mismatch” or a boot loop, do not despair. Contact Nokia broadband support or visit the DSLReports TA1165 forum thread. Keep a copy of your original PAC file saved offline, and always keep a spare router ready in case of a rare catastrophic flash failure.
